There are so many beginnings to this story it is difficult to know where to start...so I guess I'll jump right in.
I'm a vegetarian and I have been since my sophomore year in college (for anyone keeping track that's about 15 years ago). Vegetarianism is the one thing in my life I have stuck with no matter what, but it is so easy to be a vegetarian and not lead a healthy life. I know you think vegetarian you think healthy, but that isn't always the case.
I got engaged in October 2009 when I was the heaviest I'd ever been in my life. I'm not sure I'm ready to divulge the actual poundage, but let's just say I'd packed it on all while eating a vegetarian diet. So, what happened? I wasn't really sure, but I knew I needed to make a change.
My fiance found me a fabulous personal trainer who also happens to be a certified nutritionist and in working with her I've learned so much about my body. First and foremost it isn't about how much you put in as much as it is about what you are putting into your body.
In the past year and a half I've lost over 30 pounds and I have a good healthy diet and a strong exercise routine to thank for that.
I've started this blog as a way of chronically my road to health and as a way to hopefully help others out who are stuck in the vegetarian rut of thinking you are healthy when really your body is starving for nutrients.
Now I'm going to give you all the disclaimer here: I'm not a doctor, a trainer, a nutritionist or any of those other fun things, I'm just a regular woman who happens to be vegetarian and happens to eat low-carb and live life as best as I possibly can.
